Wixela® Inhub® is the generic version of ADVAIR® DISKUS® (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol inhalation powder) for appropriate patients with asthma or COPD.
Wixela® Inhub® contains the same active ingredients as ADVAIR® DISKUS® that have been shown to both control symptoms in asthma patients ages 4 and over and improve lung function in COPD patients.
Asthma
Wixela® Inhub® (fluticasone propionate/salmeterol) is a combination of an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) and a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) indicated for the maintenance treatment of asthma, in patients with reversible obstructive airways disease.
Wixela® Inhub® should be prescribed for patients not adequately controlled on a long-term asthma control medication, such as an ICS, or whose disease severity clearly warrants treatment with both an ICS and a LABA. Generic Wixela Inhub is available from our Canadian online pharmacy partner.
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
Wixela® Inhub® 250 mcg/50 mcg and Wixela® Inhub® 500 mcg/50 mcg are indicated for the maintenance treatment of COPD, including emphysema and chronic bronchitis, in patients where the use of a combination product is considered appropriate.
Available in the same 3 dosage strengths as ADVAIR® DISKUS®.
Wixela® Inhub® was designed with patients in mind to help you start a new therapy or make a seamless transition from ADVAIR® DISKUS®.
The steps for using Wixela® Inhub® are similar to those for ADVAIR® DISKUS®.
If you have questions about this product our Canadian pharmacy team is available to answer them!
Wixela Inhub is not for the treatment of acute asthma attacks or sudden increase of breathlessness and wheezing in COPD. If you get a sudden attack of wheezing and breathlessness between your doses of Wixela Inhub, you should use your fast acting ‘reliever’ medicine, such as salbutamol which your doctor has prescribed to you. Use the medication as directed by your doctor.
You may need to also take steroid tablets or syrup during a severe asthma attack, during other illnesses or during times of stress. Your doctor may give you some steroid tablets or syrup to carry with you as well as a steroid warning card, which will give you advice on when and how to use them.
Before and while you use Wixela Inhub talk to your doctor or pharmacist if some situations apply to you so that they can determine whether you should start or continue taking this medication.
